Why?

Sometimes life does not make sense.
Sometimes we have to deal with things we never thought would happen.
Sometimes confusion is all we have at the end of the day.
Sometimes we are only left with why.

It always happens at the strangest of times.
It happens like we don't expect.
Just when you think all is going well,
The news leaves us with a single word...why?

What causes it to get this far?
Why is there no other way?
Why didn't you ask for help?
Please just tell us... Tell us why.

It seems so selfish for you to go...and yet selfish to say that we feel that way.
There are no answers, there is no explanation.
All we are left with is confusion and shock,
And continually asking "why"?

It is never expected, it is never understood.
It never makes sense, it leaves you in a fog.
Clouding your thoughts and leaves you wanting to understand.
As it starts to sink in, you cry while still asking "Why?"

It appeared as if life was good, appeared that life was happy.
No one ever imagined it would be you.
You had so much to stay here for,
Now all who loved you just sit and wonder why.

All we can do is pray for those you left behind,
Pray they find some comfort, some peace.
What could we have done differently,
So we weren't left here with tears and trying to understand why.
